  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Can be replaced with vegetable oil.

For the Sauce

  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour Gluten-free flour can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 medium Onion Shallots can be used for a milder flavor.
  • 4 cloves Minced Garlic Fresh is always best!
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce Soy sauce can offer a similar taste.
  • 1 cup Dry Red Wine Consider non-alcoholic wine or additional beef broth.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Opt for fresh for more intensity.
  • 2 cups Beef Broth Vegetable broth can lighten things up.

For the Aromatics

  • 2 sprigs Fresh Rosemary Substitute with dried herbs at a 1 tsp ratio.
  • 2 sprigs Fresh Thyme Substitute with dried herbs at a 1 tsp ratio.

Preparation Steps

  • Season and coat the beef tips with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder; drizzle with Worcestershire sauce and toss with 1/4 of the flour until evenly coated.
  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat; brown the beef pieces in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • In the same pot, sauté the onions until they become translucent, about 5 minutes, then add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Sprinkle the remaining flour into the pot, stirring until it is fully combined with the vegetables to create a roux, about 2 minutes.
  • Pour in the dry red wine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.
  • Return the browned beef to the pot, adding the beef broth, rosemary, and thyme. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, about 5 minutes.
  • Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low; let it simmer for 2 hours until the beef is fork-tender.
  • Remove the herb sprigs and serve the garlic and rosemary beef tips over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.

Notes

Garnish with fresh herbs for added flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating.
