Ingredients
  

For the Cabbage 'Buns'

  • 1 small head cabbage green cabbage for best results
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil can replace with avocado oil

For the Burger Patties

  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey can use ground chicken or plant-based alternatives
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic freshly minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika or sweet paprika for milder flavor
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce ensure gluten-free if needed
  • 1 large egg optional, for binding
  • 1 cup cheese optional, for topping

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Slice a small head of cabbage into thick ½ inch slices. Brush both sides with olive oil and arrange them on a baking sheet.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. If using egg, add it to the mixture.
  • Form the meat mixture into patties that fit the cabbage slices.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, until the patties reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  • Optional: Add cheese on top of the patties and broil for 3-5 minutes until melted.
  • Carefully remove and serve garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

Optional: Add sliced avocado or salsa for extra flavor.
