For the Vegetables

  • 1 medium Onion Sautéed for added flavor.
  • 1 medium Green Pepper Feel free to use bell peppers or omit them.

For Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Any cooking oil can be substituted.
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth Vegetable broth works for a lighter version.

Instructions
 

Steps to Cook

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Generously coat chicken pieces with smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and brown the chicken on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Layer sliced onions and green peppers in a 9x13 inch baking dish, and place the browned chicken on top.
  • Drizzle chicken broth around the edges of the pan without disturbing the chicken.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 40-45 minutes until cooked through and reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Remove chicken and keep drippings. In the skillet, melt butter and sauté onions. Gradually whisk in flour, then stir in heavy cream and reserved drippings until thickened.
  • Coat chicken in gravy, then bake uncovered for an additional 15-25 minutes until golden and bubbling.
