  • 2 Tbsp Vegetable Oil Can substitute with canola or olive oil
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion Can use shallots for a milder taste
  • 8 oz Sauerkraut Drained well for texture
  • 12 count Hawaiian Rolls Sweet and soft base for the sliders
  • 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise Can substitute with cream cheese
  • 2 Tbsp Whole Grain or Dijon Mustard Yellow mustard can be used as alternative
  • 1 lb Sliced Corned Beef Pastrami is a tasty alternative
  • 0.5 lb Sliced Swiss Cheese Gruyere is a delightful substitute

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Sauté sliced onions in a skillet with vegetable oil until translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Combine sautéed onions, drained sauerkraut, mayonnaise, and mustard in a mixing bowl.
  • Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half and layer the bottom halves in a baking dish.
  • Spread the sauerkraut mixture over the bottoms of the rolls, then layer with corned beef and Swiss cheese.
  • Top with the upper halves of the rolls, optionally spreading a layer of mustard.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 10-15 minutes until heated through.
  • Uncover and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • For a crispy touch, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end.

Notes

Thinly slice corned beef and drain sauerkraut well for best results. Can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance and baked from the fridge.
