  • 1 medium Onion Sliced.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic can be used as a substitute.

For the Gravy

  • 4 cups Beef Broth Consider chicken broth for a lighter twist.
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce Soy sauce can be used as an alternative.
  • 1/4 cup Flour Cornstarch or arrowroot powder are good gluten-free substitutes.

Optional Add-ins

  • Fresh Herbs Thyme or rosemary for an aromatic twist.

  • Cut the beef chuck roast into bite-sized cubes, removing any excess fat for a cleaner taste.
  • Generously sprinkle salt and black pepper over the beef cubes, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
  • Place the sliced onions at the bottom of the slow cooker, then evenly layer the seasoned beef cubes on top.
  • Pour the beef broth over the beef and onions, add the Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder, then stir gently to combine.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  • After cooking, remove ½ cup of the liquid and whisk in the flour until smooth, then return this mixture to the slow cooker and cook on high for an additional 30 minutes.

Notes

For best results, sear the beef before cooking and check seasoning before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
