- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 (28 oz) cans crushed tomatoes
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large baking dish.
- Cook ziti in boiling salted water until al dente (about 8 minutes). Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and onion; sauté until fragrant and onion is translucent (about 5 minutes).
- Stir in crushed tomatoes and oregano; simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cooked ziti with half of the tomato sauce mixture and ricotta cheese.
- Layer half of the ziti mixture in the baking dish, top with half of the remaining sauce and mozzarella. Repeat layers and finish with mozzarella on top.
- Bake uncovered for about 25 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
