  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 (28 oz) cans crushed tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large baking dish.
  2. Cook ziti in boiling salted water until al dente (about 8 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and onion; sauté until fragrant and onion is translucent (about 5 minutes).
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes and oregano; simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked ziti with half of the tomato sauce mixture and ricotta cheese.
  6. Layer half of the ziti mixture in the baking dish, top with half of the remaining sauce and mozzarella. Repeat layers and finish with mozzarella on top.
  7. Bake uncovered for about 25 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
