- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 medium cucumber, grated
- 4 whole wheat pita breads
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- Juice of 2 lemons
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken by mixing olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add chicken breasts and coat well. Let marinate for at least one hour.
- Prepare the tzatziki sauce by combining Greek yogurt, grated cucumber (excess moisture squeezed out), minced garlic, chopped dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Preheat the grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill chicken for about six minutes on each side until fully cooked and charred.
- Warm pitas on the grill or in a skillet until soft.
- Slice grilled chicken into strips and layer them onto warmed pita with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and drizzle generously with tzatziki sauce.
