With a slightly chewy texture and a sprinkle of coarse sea salt, these pretzels are easy to make and ideal for any gathering or cozy night in. Serve them fresh out of the oven with your favorite dips for an unforgettable treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp coarse sea salt
  • ½ cup baking soda

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and brown sugar; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add flour and salt; mix to form dough. Knead on a floured surface for about 8 minutes.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 hour).
  4. Preheat oven to 450°F. Divide dough into pieces, roll into ropes, and shape into pretzels.
  5. Boil each pretzel in a baking soda solution for 30 seconds on each side.
  6. Place on parchment-lined baking sheets, sprinkle with salt, and bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
