- 1 large green cabbage
- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 cup long-grain rice
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh dill
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley
- 24 oz tomato sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (for sauce)
Instructions
- Prepare the cabbage: Boil salted water and blanch 10 cabbage leaves for about 3 minutes until softened.
- Make the filling: Sauté onion in a skillet, add ground beef or lamb, rice, dill, and parsley. Cook until meat is browned (5-7 minutes).
- Assemble: Place 2 tablespoons of filling in each cabbage leaf, fold sides in, and roll tightly.
- Prepare for baking: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread some tomato sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Arrange rolls seam-side down.
- Add more sauce: Pour remaining tomato sauce over rolls and cover with foil.
- Bake: Cook for about 60 minutes; remove foil for the last 10 minutes to crisp the tops.
