  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup pesto sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt; add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into three equal pieces. Roll each into ropes, spread with pesto, sprinkle with mozzarella, then braid together.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Let the braided loaf rest for 15 minutes on a parchment-lined baking sheet before baking for 25 minutes until golden brown.
